![]() ![]() Galaxy 2 has a more conventional level system than Super Mario Galaxy, which offers several universes split into more minor planetary levels. Other stages occur in environments such as scorching lava wastelands, ice tunnels, or oceans, while others transform the perspective from 3D to 2D, emulating the character’s roots as a platformer. The setting is a hybrid of the typical Mario levels, populated by well-known villains, and tiny planetoids, each with gravity orbiting the sun. This can be accomplished in a few ways, including achieving an end goal, gathering a certain number of lesser star bits, or fighting a boss at the end of the level. The primary objective of each level is to get the gold star. It is again up to Mario to battle and defeat both Bowser and Bowser Jr., in addition to many new antagonists and challenges, to save Princess Peach. ![]() So to keep it simple and avoid more confusion, a mod is for PC games, and a hack for Console games.Mario returns triumphantly to the stars just as the enduring antagonist Bowser has abducted Princess Peach for a second time, this time when she is making a cake. ![]() There are some examples though where the console games' source code has been made available and a game version is made for other systems where it was not meant to be released, but in such case we are talking about ports, not hacks or mods 'per se' (yes, many changes/adjustments can be made to such ports too), and yes, there are some cases where a PC game file is modified even though it wasn't meant to be. Some people also think that a mod refers to modify (so the name) an already modifiable source (most times using the source code made available by the devs or some kind of utility for the matter, so that's the reason mods are more related with PC games), while a hack refers to something that its not meant to be -easily- modifiable (like a console ROM). A mod is more related to PC games, while a Hack refers mostly to ROMs derived from Console games. ![]() Even though both refer to the process of changing something (ROM, PC game file). ![]()
